This is so cool a life! Yesterday, I interviewed international singer/songwriter Alice Peacock at the Holiday Inn Ortigas (formerly Manila Galleria Suites). It's amazing how I never flinched nor stammered during the conversation, as I usually do, and went through it like I was just talking to a close friend. She looks so much prettier in person! The press kit contained pictures that appeared in her album cover and on her website and, there, she had curly hair. When I saw Alice yesterday, she had ultra straight hair white brown and blonde streaks. And oh my what a cleavage. I constantly shifted in my seat so as not to be distracted by her plunging neckline and have her think I have fantasies about her. And she had such beautiful skin! I wish mine were as flawless as hers. I felt like a toad beside her.

When I volunteered for the job, I didn't know who she was. I almost cursed myself for jumping into interviews with people I don't know, but immediately changed my mind and became interested when I saw her website. Check it out at www.alicepeacock.com (sorry I don't know how other people do those link thingies so you'll just have to paste it on the url box). What drew me to her was not her music, but her writing. She writes with such intensity I can almost feel the words seep into my veins and take control of me. But then, it could be that I am so obsessed about writing that finding another writer totally overwhelms me.

I plan on watching her performance at Greenbelt 2 tonight. It's free so you all should go watch her. She has a very earthy, soulful voice you will be compelled to stare with your mouth slightly open and forget all about the cup of segafredo coffee on your table. I suggest you order red wine, instead.

Anyway, there were about 9 or 10 writers at the press con from different publications. It was my first time to attend a press con and, knowing how selfish I am with the information I get on my interviews, I felt slightly disappointed. HOWEVER, when the Sony people called us for the briefing, they said that Inquirer was the only one who's gonna get a one-on-one with Ms Peacock. Everyone else would be in a group. YEAH! I wanted to stomp on that wry smile on the PINK writer's face (who thinks he's so gwapo). I was gonna get a one-on-one and you'll have to share the info you get with 7 other people. 2BU rocks! Thanks to Pam Pastor. And thanks to the voice inside my head who told me to go for it.

On another note, I'M GOING TO THE MANDY MOORE CONCERT FOR FREE! You see, I'm writing something right now for the Philippine National Aids Council (PNAC) and Dr. Poblete offered to give me ticketS to the concert. (Mandy is working with UNAIDS and the PNAC to prevent the spread of AIDS and I think a huge bulk of her concert sales would be donated to charity. )He even said he would give me access to Mandy Moore's press con on November 21, but I don't have a press ID yet. Sayang. I would have wanted to have my pictures taken with her. Not that I adore Mandy Moore, ha! It's just one of those milestones I wouldn't dare pass up. Besides, it would make my sister swoon. hahahaha!

I gotta get back to work. The articles are waiting. I prepare to die in quicksand.
